Wow!!! Finally, after months of preparation and planning the white buffalo bikefest 2008 has come and gone, leaving us with lots of good memories and almost certainly some new friends.
Molly Hatchet & Blackfoot brought down the house Saturday night and we would like to take this opportunity to thank both of these amazing Legends. Joe Ely & Joel Guzman rocked the outdoor stage Friday night, with an awesome performance by the Texas power trio as an opener. While we are on the subject of bands, we had sensational performances from some of the most spectacular musicians in the country, including Mark allan Atwood, The Texas Power Trio, Junk Male, Ignite 454, Pushrod, Happy Fat, and Redneck Jedi, just to mention a few.
Some of the best stunt performers in the country joined us again this year. The American Motor Drome joined us for the 3rd year in a row to thrill and amaze our audiences with their ability to race up a horizontal wall.. The Crazy Texan Stunt Team, also back for their 3rd year, performed stoppies and wheelies, much to the crowds delight. Jess Kempkes riveted his crowds while appearing to defy gravity with his stunts. although scheduled, Cody Ives Globe of Death was unable to join us this year due to an accident the week prior. Kyle broke both of his hands and took a nasty whack to the head. Our thoughts and prayers are with Kyle and his family along with a hope for a speedy recovery!!!
Our vendors were, as always, absolutely top notch, and we would like to thank all of them for joining us. Those that I spoke with before their departure just smiled really big when I asked them how they did over the week-end so I guess everyone was having a good time.
Spirits were soaring high as the helicopter provided sight- seeing flights for a birds eye view of things below. We were also fortunate to have “Doc” and ”Mama” Ross with ThunderDrags bring in their mobile Dragstrip so contestants could check out exactly what their own bikes could really do. It was too cool!!! Thanks so much for bringing it, guys!!!! Another unique attraction for this years’ agenda was the first WBBF wedding….Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Craig Scholten who got married at the American motor drome. Thanks so much to Earl Owens of antelope creek leathers for performing the service for them and to the American motor drome for providing the backdrop for the event. Another incredible event for the rally was the West Texas Iron Horse rodeo which was held both Friday and Saturday nights. Our thanks to shane gillean for putting on a great show. The lighted bike parade was a huge success with more than 320 bikes joining in. It was an awesome sight to see. Thanks to all who participated.
Thank You so much to all of our Sponsors, Chamber of commerce, CMA members, and volunteers without whom we could not have pulled this off. We appreciate you all more than we can say.
Now, looking to next year……..the dates for next years’ rally are October 2-4, 2009. You already know the entertainment will be top notch, so check back often to find out all the great changes and new adventures to be had at White Buffalo bikefest 2009. Thanks for coming and hope to see you next year!!!!!!!!!!!
